Description: Blue13’s new Contemporary Indian works brings forth the rich rhythmic footwork and dance-drama of the Indian Subcontinent, strengthened by Blue13’s modern dance roots. Terpsichore in Ghungroos is a retort to Akram Khan’s simplistic statements regarding female choreographers in the 21st century, while the related Dragon excerpts explore the first generation South Asian American journey of duality, and the way in which that journey mirrors distinct identity crises faced by so many of minority cultures: woman, gay, immigrant, other.
