Blue13 Contemporary Indian Dance Showcase at WAA Los Angeles: 8/31/16, 8:58pm
Blue13 performs excerpts from our newly developed touring work, “Dragon,” at the DRC Homegrown Showcase at WAA, Wednesday, August 31st at 8:58pm, with additional performances throughout the conference. Other companies performing in the showcase include: Pony Box, Helios, Versa Style, Vertigo Circus, and more.

About the piece: Blue13’s new Contemporary Indian work brings forth the rich rhythmic footwork and dance-drama of the Indian Subcontinent, strengthened by Blue13’s modern dance roots. The piece explores the first generation South Asian American journey of duality, and the way in which that journey mirrors distinct identity crises faced by so many of minority cultures: woman, gay, immigrant, other. “Dragon” is American and rebellious with a profound Indian respect, encapsulating the feeling of walking a tight rope between two worlds to finally emerge with a distinct, proud identity.
