1947(Excerpts)

Commissioned by the USC Kaufman School, McDaniel creates an evening length work entitled, “1947” opens with a colorful Bollywood style segment and morphs into an emotional exploration of migration, colonization, and lost homeland as experienced during the Pakistan-India partition of 1947. McDaniel will stage the piece on Blue13 in May 2023 at the Wallis Annenberg Center.

Restless autumn. restless spring. (EXCERPT)

Utilizing improvisation and collaboration to foreground process, Restless autumn. restless spring. strips away production to explore the impact of movement alone. Largely a response to the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, this piece is a rediscovery of what it means for artists to unite in a space to reflect on shared experiences.
