Blue13 Background

Blue13 Dance Company is an American dance theatre ensemble based in Los Angeles. Originally established in 1999 in New York by Achinta S. McDaniel, Blue13 has connected audiences through the power of live aesthetically and culturally daring dance, performing in the U.S. and abroad in its highly energetic and theatrical modern dance style that is inspired in part by the classical and cultural art forms of the Indian subcontinent. Recently, Blue13 has performed at The Ford, The Music Center, Hollywood Bowl, REDCAT, The Wallis, and Disney’s California Adventure.

Description

Blue13 Dance Company seeks strong, versatile, and expressive contemporary dancers with incredible stage presence. PAID 2-year contracts for touring, upcoming stage and film projects, and local events. Competitive pay for rehearsals and engagements. Come dance with a world-class company committed to access and equity. Regular rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons, 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Northeast Los Angeles.


Led by Achinta S. McDaniel, Blue13 is a NEFA and NEA grant award-winning company with more than 20 years of history. Access, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ABIDE) are at the heart of all we do. Our recent work includes Bollywood Express at Union Station, Soliloquy at Heritage Square, REDCAT NOW Festival, engagements in Las Vegas and the Bahamas, and a performance at the Hollywood Bowl with renowned music artist A.R. Rahman.

Also Seeking Apprentices for 1-Year Contracts

Blue13’s Apprentice Program is a one-year training program. Apprentices are not paid for training, but are reimbursed for select travel expenses.

Audition Date: June 21, 1:00 p.m.

Audition will include a one-hour company class, after which dancers will learn several short rep excerpts. Prepare to perform a 45-60 second solo in your strongest style. Select dancers will be asked to perform their solos. Expect to stay until approximately 4:30 p.m.

Physical Job Requirements

Standing, moving, dancing, running, walking for several hours consecutively for rehearsals and performances.
