your donation will enable us to bring dance, and with it, meaningful and lasting impact where it is needed most across the U.S. and abroad.

why donate

Our ABIDE approach centers Access, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in every sphere of dance. support Blue13, a Black and Brown company of dancers telling the stories of our time in a powerful and palatable way.

Donations enable the creation of new work, including new dance films during the pandemic, and new pieces that center BIPOC stories and identity, works which amplify those voices that are so often ignored or overlooked, particularly in concert dance. Your contribution enables touring support for Blue13 to increase accessible programming like classes and roundtables to students, schools, and communities who do not often see or hear from artists of color. representation matters!

You are part of educating these communities and empowering young people. rand it is important for young BIPOC, especially women to see themselves on stage, at the front of the room, owning the company.

It is further important for communities who do not have access to BIPOC artistry to be enlightened through dance. help us to engage and entertain, with education as a positive and lasting contribution where it is needed most, especially during these divisive times.

Your contribution also funds artistic training, costuming, and directly supports salaries of dancers, artistic director, staff, and our new executive director position in 2021. in addition, your donation is responsible for funding new programs like toddler and young children education online and in person, and dance in schools programs which include our partnership with Lineage Performing Arts and Pasadena Public Schools to teach Indian dance forms, contemporary, hip hop, and pop cultural dance to students in historically marginalized Title I schools.

You can be part of ABIDE, and make real change happen in this world. partner with us as a donor, volunteer, and advocate today.

American, Artistic Director, Achinta S. McDaniel creates dance rife with precision, rebellion and unconventional architecture. storytelling through dance is central to our work, ranging from one joyous, quintessentially “Bollywood” high, to a rhythmic footwork assault performed by dancers clad in ankle bells. blue13 embodies the bridge between American dance and Indian diaspora, connecting diverse audiences through the power of aesthetically and culturally daring dance.

blue13 deeply values community access and education, offering direct participation through interactive dance events and Indian dance workshops. to translate dance into lasting societal contributions is in Blue13’s very DNA, as is the mission to empower, unite, and spread equity and understanding through our work.

Access, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity (ABIDE) is the cornerstone of the Blue13 ethos, conceived by Artistic Director, Achinta S. McDaniel, and woven into all facets of our organizational and artistic practices. Blue13 is an Indian woman-founded dance company, with a highly diverse cast, board, and staff. Blue13 IN THE PRESS

"The contemporary Indian dance troupe stomped belled heels into the ground with vigor and darted between tree-lined platforms with abandon, like sprightly revelers on a midsummer’s eve...magical."

The deft blending of such a myriad of pieces – movement styles, colors, light, music and costume is the hallmark of an organization that not only dives deep into study, but knows how to make choices that deliver a punch. I want to see them again. You need to see them.
